Another insomnia inspired piece as the nights start rolling in
Red Eye

As nights start drawing in now
Burn the evidence I leave
Exit with polite bows
A heart out on my sleeve
Bleeding in the shadows
Away from prying eyes
Condensing on the windows
Double glazed, we lie
Built for independence
Like rocks we hold our heat
A feat of blind transcendence
We climb, ascend, replete
Soaring from the crime scenes
Afraid to leave ourselves,
Spread out where we have been
In case somebody delves
And finds that we’re worth something
A scary thought to dream
Paranoid we run rings
In circles we’re redeemed
When holding patterns falter
When someone flags us down
Trajectories, they alter
And flight paths go to ground
With evidence found somehow
On a kindred spirit’s track
With nights long, drawing in now
Whilst bleeding in the black
