Looking at a cat
Have you ever seen a cat,
I mean really seen a cat?

Watched it's powerful legs,
listened for it's silent paws,
as it stalked a mouse?

Have you ever looked into a cat's yellow eyes,
seen the calculating intelligence,
as it's perceptive ears,
and it's hypersensitive nose search for the mouse?

Have you ever seen it's lithe body,
covered in sleek black fur,
and it's long white whiskers,
as it finds that mouse?

Have you ever seen it's arching back,
that hungry maw, full of sharp teeth,
as it bunches it's muscle, ready to leap?

But I know you've seen what happens
to that mouse.

There's lunch.
