My senses take a wild ride when I lose a job I wanted...
A sickening swirl
floods my system
As I watch my chance slip away
The job I wanted
Now belongs to... him.
I press my lips
Into some form of a smile
A grimace, really
Trying to play the forever friend...
My ears begin to ring
As I feel my senses careen out of control
The churning in my gut
Swells and threatens
To let the nausea
Project the contents
Of my stomach outward.
I pray it lands on... him.
Sweet justice in the form
Of my lunch...
I watch him laugh
Taking in the attention
That was due me
My hungry ambition takes another blow.
I slink back into the corner
Hiding behind the shadow
That grows with the putrid festering
That lines my heart.
The room spins again
And I shuffle away
Trying to hide.
My balance wavers
and my vision blurs
I want off this spun out carousel.

33 lines.
carousel and envy (and some anger as well)
