How do you capture heartache on paper?
Words, images,
snatches of poetry
all about you, for you
pounding, swirling, floating...
Will I never get them all down?

I want to capture on paper that look,
how it makes me feel.
You know the one
you don't realize
that I understand;
the one that comes from
the part of you that still needs me.

I wish I could hate you.
I long to be free.
Kill the memories.
Bury the pain.
Abolish the love.

I fight to no avail.

I am destined to suffer
until I finally
express all this
in the one perfect poem
that never comes.

The pen in my hand
can never write
all the verse in my heart
