a storm dredges up a woman's childhood trama.
The storm raged outside.

"Katie." she whispered.

"CRACK!" The sound sent her bolting out the front door into the storm away from the broken old man dying in the room upstairs. On nights like this, she feared him still. When lighting cracked like the sound of the whip on her sisters young flesh. She knelt in the mud beside the insignificant mound behind the barn.

"Katie." She sobbed. "I'm sorry."
