Seeds germinate
Seeds germinate
send myriads of roots
down into spring's warm soil,
while pushing pale green
stalks towards the sun.

I wonder
how do the seeds know
in which direct direction
their roots and stems
should move.

If they send their fruit producing stalks
toward Earth's core
no seeds are produced;
likewise,
if they send their roots upwards
the plant will starve.

Is this ability
to know which way
to grow a miracle
or natural law?
