How we remember others says much about us.
Memorial Day

I remember because I can’t forget.

I see those that didn’t come home with me.

In dreams or nightmares, who knows for sure.

I reach for the hands I could not grasp.

I still feel the ones I held in my arms as they slipped away.

I ask God, why?

I thought he didn’t answer.

Why should God hear someone that questioned his work?

Why should I even care?

Then I saw him, here at home.

One I thought I had lost.

I hear softly spoken words.

“I did not call this one home“

Yes, I remember, all those on Memorial Day.
