Several species of animals live off trees! What if one could talk to them?
For the Monthly Poetry Contest, June 2016

Gather round, one and all.
Creatures big and small.
My leaves are fresh and green,
Very visible and plain to see!

All natural bark fiber,
Darker and lighter!
I'll be here all right,
Every day and night.

Oh lithe and lively Deer,
Come on over here!
I know you love to munch,
Off my branches for lunch.
I say, Happy Spring,
To your youngling!

I see you, Caterpillar!
By the day, you look puffier!
Fuzzy and casual,
Crawling along as usual.
Probably you'll soon
Be weaving your cocoon.

Hi, Squrriel! Hello!
Got new acorns, y'know!
You're always so busy,
Your tail twitching.
Up and down.
Scampering around...

Oh Birds, how lovely you sing!
It's such a pleasant thing.
Jays, Pigeons, Ducks, Pheasants
No better day like the present!
Quite a feathery variety.
Living in nests on me.

Never a dull moment here!
Buzzing insects, far and near!
Spring and summer,
Never a bummer.
I'm certainly not lonely!
All of you keep me company.

What a tree might say...
Have they ever pondered,
Ever truly wondered?

Not that it bothers me!
I'm used to it.
Watching them all grow,
Going about their ways...
It's still all worth it!
