A poem of lost possibilities.
A blank page lies before me
And my mind invents a tale
It's a common tale
Not 'specially unique
But to me it is my everything

I see two lovers, dancing
They're joined, hand in hand
Laugh lines beginning
Their forms taking shape
Holding memories of their embrace

Many years go by, they seem quick
These lovers wed at long last
The bells ring out
And the people cheer
Clinking cans bounce down the road

Some fights were had between them
And still they persevered.
About their work
Both within and out
They always came out on top

Perhaps they had kids
Perhaps they didn't
Either way they both grow old
Until they rest, forevermore
Two souls asunder joined

But all these things are ripped from me
The wind grabs at the page
And with it flies
So far away
Snatching my lovers from view
