This is one of those things that pops into your head just before you fall asleep.

Just outside of my sight it lurks, deep in shadow.
Hidden from me, keeping its intentions secret.
As it grows closer, my angst grows deeper.
Slowly, purposefully it moves closer.
I now see it; its intentions are clear.
As it grows closer, I am filled with fear.
