For the lucky ones
Digging

Searching for the treasure
Searching far and wide
All the land I’ve covered
I should’ve looked inside
Stayed a little closer
Strayed less far from home
Answers found on doorsteps
In a smile, when I’ve roamed
A smile there to welcome
An adventurer’s return
A smile took for granted
A smile never earned
With miles spent on ventures
Bids on journeys far
Whilst hunting for elusive moons
We oft forget the stars
The stars that shine down for us
Regardless what shines back
Unconditional they call us
They see the things we lack
They see the things we do not see
See the things we lose
They see the things that we could be
They see the things we choose
And still they keep on shining
A smile in the sky
A fallen star left pining
Patiently they vie
Wait in shadows, in the wings
When darkest scenes, they loom
Understudies of our greatest things
Beneath our peacock plume
Places, ugly, barren, cold
To others hold their charm
They see a treasure, shining bold
Protected safe from harm
Waiting for that treasure
Searching for so long
A true find without measure
You were here all along
