Poem about the troubles of being nonbinary in a society focused on a binary gender system
Inside my head, I am at war
A boy and a girl are screaming
Both trying to be heard
I can hear them, I will listen

NICK hates rules and society
LIV hates rules and society

NICK wants to hang with the boys' group
LIV wants to hang with the girls' group

NICK doesn't show much emotion
LIV likes to express emotion

NICK doesn't care what others think
LIV cares about appearances

NICK values athletics and strength
LIV prefers creativity

NICK rarely keeps anything clean
LIV prefers to be organized

NICK hates rules and society
LIV hates rules and society

Am I trapped between two people?
No, but at the same time, I am
Our stereotypes force my hand
Forces me to choose, boy or girl

I am both a boy and a girl
I hate rules and society
Inside my head, I am at war
