A Child's escape into the night
She took one last look behind her, the chill of winter now making her shake. Knowing her Aunt's house wasn't far, she hoped she could make it; tears began to well up in her eyes. She held Bear closer to her, finding comfort in his furry body. 'It's ok, we stayed as long as we could’. The darkness began to crawl its way across the bridge towards her as if searching her out. She turned to leave, still holding Bear tightly. ‘We can't protect mummy now; she's sleeping and doesn't have to fight with daddy anymore.'
