The darkness speaks to those who listen.
Darkness, what can you tell me?
Tell me, what do you hear?
A song about the bygone years.
When joy was but a synonym
of Life.
When Time deferred to every whim.
And gave us all we asked of Him.
Before he cast us all aside,
The younger ones to walk beside.
We were unproven yet we tried,
To navigate the seas so wide.
We crashed upon a thousand shoals,
That rent our young and tender souls,
With jagged edge of rigid stone.
Upon the oceans, all alone,

Darkness, what can you tell me?
Tell me, what do you hear?
A memoir of unnumbered tears.
Each one has riven down my cheek,
A jagged scar oblique.
Each one has furrowed in my heart
A wound into the deepest part.
Do you think that I've forgotten?
Do you think I cannot feel,
The searing rain upon my face.
For balms of time cannot erase
The pain that has my joy replaced.

Darkness, what can you tell me?
Tell me what do you hear?
A parable of constant fear.
Well save it for a later date,
Perhaps when it is not so late,
If ever then there comes that time,
When sorrow yields to the sublime
Preeminence of peaceful sleep
Eternal. Where no one shall weep!
