Prompt: "Hello darkness, my old friend" Line Count: 16
I walked alone through city streets,
Listening to the echoes of my bare feet,
Stalking me through man-made canyons,
Chasing me across wet cement,
And through rivers of hot tarmac.

I walked alone through fields of grain,
Pelted by freezing rain,
While behind me lightning flashed,
Illuminating fears domain.

I walked alone through terror's dreams,
Listening to my silent screams,
I was forced to look within,
The unlit caverns of my mind,
And it was there that I finally spoke
To my invisible stalker:
"Hello darkness, my old friend".
