A poem I wrote in tribute for my mother's birthday the year after her untimely death.
Where have you gone mother dear? You left me so far behind.
The touch of your hand, the sound of your voice is ever on my mind.
Do you think of us, oh mother dear, still struggling here on Earth?
Or have you forgotten all of these things since your Heavenly birth?

Why did you leave mother dear? It was way too soon.
I know you had no say in it, for you heard Heavens tune.
You're more beautiful now where you are, no flaw can be found.
But still my heart hurts more when I think of you in the ground.

Who are you with mother dear? Have you gotten to meet God?
Have you met with passed loved ones? Have you walked where angels trod?
Have you found the streets that are paved in gold?
Have you seen things that are yet untold?

I love you so, my mother dear, of that there is no doubt.
Inside I feel shattered like glass, but outward I act so stout.
I will go for now, my mother dear, I hate that we're apart.
But one sweet day we'll meet again, and that will mend my heart.
