My True Love and Best Friend



On second thought, if only I knew what I know now,
Would I be different, or still be guileless and naïve?
I listen to the buzz’d whispers, and echoes of time,
A deafening silence unveils after church bells chime.



The person I love is special, kind, sweet, with probity.
We’re perfect together, knowing we're meant to be,
A few light kisses, warm embraces, I took a chance,
Cherishing the moments as true passion enhanced.



Our afternoon delight felt special as the sun in the sky,
Shone down on our bed of sweet clover, I innocently complied,
Our life together became ideal, happy, sublime, and carefree,
As we vacationed in leisure, enjoying each other’s company



As the rainbow comes and goes, I dream of what use to be;
My love, who's a perfectionist, an inventor; oh yes, a devotee
To his job, a workaholic so to speak, then out like a light,
Leaving me to stare at the celestial sky filled with starry sights.



Walking the meadows, a grove of trees to a stream,
Loving the glorious sights as I look around and dream,
Hoping our love will begin anew, together instead of apart,
I check my reflection and make a cross over my heart.



My handyman, my Jack of all Trades, so darn content,
Not noticing my loneliness or our mediocre existence,
Each and every day we just do what needs to be done,
It’s the pressure of the times, to conquer and overcome.



My proficient expert adept at all things asked if I was happy?
Eyes wide with shock, I stared at him, my mouth agape,
"No, I’m not!" We sat, talking for hours, both a give and take,
My love, my partner, we walked arm in arm alongside the lake.



We’ve grown spiritually, mentally, just taking each day at a time,
Getting to know each other again, we toast, and drink our wine.
No more walking different paths, but together we shall overcome,
Sorrows and joys that life brings, once more as a loving twosome.
