Remember: when your daughter was still alive
The Vacancy

Remember:
When He looked in your eyes
And the world was not broken
And your daughter was still alive
And the tears had not fallen
You walked confident in His hands

How the barkers on their corners grew silent
when she'd ride her bike down the street
and far off ice cream wagons had to be called
Businessmen would reach into their pocket
and pay just to see

The walk up the hill seemed shorter
You didn't feel so... old
You never noticed her limp
because her smile was always so bright
you needed sunglasses

When dreams were worth dreaming
Time wasn't a bother
There would always be-"come and see, daddy"
There would always be "I love you" backs
There would always be time for her to outlive...me!

Remember:
When He looked in your eyes
The world was not broken
When dust didn't return to dust
for her spirit to return to Him
who gave it so generously

How immense must be His power
How enormous must be His glory
To requite this broken-broken heart
so much more than enough
and turn such tears as these to joy

How unspeakable must be His love
How unsearchable must be His wisdom
To leave me so vacant
that I've no choice but to be filled
to leave me so broken
that I've no choice but to be healed
In our great reunion
