A rhyming poem about the physical traits of humans; a poem meant to be thought-provoking.
The human eye’s iris color may be
amber, blue, gray, green, hazel, red, or brown.
When another’s eye color we may see
to differ from ours, it doesn’t make us frown.

A person’s hair color may be some shade
of black, brown, red, auburn, blond, gray or white.
Some even will become bald, I’m afraid.
Over hair color, we don’t want to fight.

People come thin or fat and short or tall.
We are tolerant of all body types.
We mind these above traits hardly at all.
Differences in them lead to few gripes.

Yet, one human trait leads many to hate.
Skin color may be a variation
of white, yellow, red, brown, or black by Fate.
This trait alone brings discrimination.

What a better world surely it would be
if the color of one’s skin, eyes, and hair
were treated all the same, with each trait free
from undue bias. Will Man arrive there?

Will someday Mankind ever realize
we all are Human Beings, all the same?
This improved state can materialize
if we will stop our ignorant skin game.

Poetic format: quatrains with lines 1 and 3, 2 and 4 end-rhymed, 10 syllables per line)
