God, this is why I hate reading aloud,

doing the one thing I most deplore,

my heart racing, aching within

as sweat drips, oozes from every pore.

unable to breathe for all that I know,

my stuttering words all you can hear,

that ticking clock ticking way too slow.

Yes, this is why I hate reading aloud,

fearing collapse on my shaky knees

as I tremble so fast that all can see,

even this bored audience in front of me.

my inner voice screaming, feeding my doubts
