The Winter Solstice - a time of reflection and celebration
The sun seems to stand still
Waiting in the darkness
Of the longest night...
Taking a moment to reflect
To let the earth think all is lost
Before breaking the surface
And awakening the light
And bringing back the heat
That bathes us in hope and resurrection.

In this darkness we take the time
To look within
Examining the past year
With all its foibles and accomplishments
And considering our way forward
And what paths to take
To make the next year even better.

We also come together
And raise a glass to loved ones
As we cherish them
And celebrate all we have
In the here and now.

From the vastness of space
To the miniscule aspects of our lives
Life cycles onward
A steady, circular motion
Never ending and enduring
For centuries past
And the ones to come.
We are all united
In God's great universe
And His cosmic plan.
