Twin Towers

Twin towers watched over a city as it bustled
Its people always hurried and hustled.

Twin towers watched over a city full of lights
No one would ever suspect its hidden frights.

Twin towers watched over a city full of pain
Hope seems like it’s lost, never to remain.

Twin towers fell on a September day
The city’s protector blown away.

From the ash hope rose like never before
A nation rallied from its inner core.

A country stood fully united
A terrorist’s plot blighted.

Many souls perished on that September morn
Through it all, a nation’s solidarity was born.

Never forget the painful memories of the past
It’s the memories that will always last.

Once again, twin towers will watch the city bustle
As its citizens slow down the pace, not to hustle.
