Tanka: a Japanese style poem


                             frozen lake's levee-

                             under tree's white canopy

                             flock of geese shiver

                             majestic eagle swoops low

                             fierce talons capture the weak







Tanka is a traditional Japanese poem consisting of five lines with 5/7/5/7/7 syllables each line.
