A brief poem of a book personified.
I am both old and young
I am of age old wisdom
I am many in number
Similar, yet completely different

I hold secrets and life lessons
I hold lies and truth
I can teach you a thing or ten
I know many things

My words can be a soothing whisper at night
They can be a fleeting memory in the mind
My words can be the ringing battle cry that spurs you forth
Or even the venomous bite that kills you softly

Take a look, and I can heal your deepest scars
Or I can tear you apart from the inside
I might sing out glory of a life
And scorn and shame another

Age old wisdom knows no bounds

I am always unchanging
History can live through me
I can hold treasure desired by many
I can be something that should never be seen

Benevolent or of ill will
Some may see differently
But through all
Age old wisdom remains unchanging

What will you have of me?
Am I your bane
Or your savior?

Open me or keep me shut
Take it or leave it

It is your choice
