Another poem written after my beloved boy died in 2013
The dreams that now come are far and few;
But they give to me a different view
Of a son that was here but now is gone,
Only memories left to carry him on.
His face, that face that burns in my heart,
So precious to me from the very start
In life it was closed and hard to read
But in my dreams it is filled with an open need
To tell me what happened and to know why I cry;
"I did what I came for, I had to die.
But up where I'm at, it's just endless sky
And look, mom, just look! Up here I can fly!
Don't grieve and go on as the others do
My God is alive and He carries you!
You won't always feel Him or know He is near,
Your cries, your screams, each moan, every tear
Do not go unnoticed - for it's YOU He holds dear!
I'll stand by you, Mom, you know that I do,
But my God is alive and He carries you."
