Melting Fire

Staring into blue pool eyes,
I'm diving in, to search and to find,
Anything lying within your mind,
To contrast the gaze that's meeting mine.
You say your trust I should enlist,
But insecurity looms, and lies persist.
Just that little bit longer than my heart can prize,
Open to leave those thoughts behind.

And who are you to be a stranger,
And yet leave me so smitten?
And who am I, to at ease deny,
Myself of this persistence?
If something can bloom out of something so soon,
Why shouldn't you pursue it?
To blossom from the ground, without pain, without sound.
I wonder, can I do it?

In slumbering days and honey skies,
I sometimes feel just like a child.
In moonlit night, nocturn rising,
I see how many miles I've got.

With every step a click
Click.
In the metronome of my
Brain.
The ticking of the
Clock.
Depending where I stand to
Night.
The sliding scale of
Strings.
To shut down this brain's like melting fire.

But staring into blue pool eyes,
I'm content, for I can't find,
Anything lying within your mind,
To contrast the gaze that's meeting mine.
The fire it burns, and fears, and twists,
But you are just the opposite.
Letting go, no longer blind.
Ready to leave those thoughts behind.
