Dinosaur glory days ... A PersonITfication Entry
Reminiscences

I was a mighty dinosaur.
The earth would tremble from my roar.
Now I’m portrayed by movie clones
and pictures of my fossil'ed bones.

I miss the days of eating grass
as I strolled through the damp morass;
my own Jurassic banquet hall
that thrived before my fateful fall.

They say the meteor that fell
made life on earth a living hell,
destroying all that was alive.
So, how’d those damn monkeys survive?

Did they have armor-plated skin?
Did they leave foot prints, sinking in
the ground because of their great bulk?
How could an ant defeat the Hulk?

I mean, it just seems so unfair
that dust and poison filled the air
condemning me and all my kind,
but, no, not them. They had a “mind.”

Oh well, the past is history
and I can’t change what’s come to be.
The monkey’s won and I am gone;
a picture, just a hanger-on.

I stare out from this gilded frame
while people try to guess my name
then give up with a tired yawn.
Triceratops, you monkey spawn!

I was a mighty dinosaur.
My time has passed, I am no more.
Yet, fear of me should ever linger –
I can paper-cut your finger!
