A Free Verse Poem
Fake;
a painted face
wearing a full mask
as if it were some sort of masquerade
and on it
written a lie
designer made with a false beauty,
with a sort of allure
of arrogant affairs.
Yet those who wear it
pray to those above
that the mask alone is enough.
Enough to climb
the never-ending stairs
titled as society's chaos.
Beauty it may be;
beautiful emptiness
but without the beautiful value
of self worth.
For underneath that very mask
is the hidden and simple truth.
Never truly labelled as high end
or chiseled perfection.
Underneath that forced mask
society pushes unto us,
lies something greater than pretend beauty;
lies a real heart
beating with life in every pulse;
lies a real mind
constantly creating.
underneath the mask
lies a form of personality-
unique and varied.
Under the the mask that needs to be cracked
lies the truly beautiful.
