My Papa Gave Us Tulips


Hand planted those bulbs
using all the proper tools
Digging endless holes

Stored up some patience
time put to remembering
Holland's best tulips

Gift from our Father
not knowing he was to die
That cold December

Color finds April
Blooms fetch happy tears of joy
How not to love life

Years awash brilliant blossoms
Beauty blankets grief's seasons
