a thank you to my mother
I was but a lump of coal, when you found me
You gave me a feeling of hope.
Overlooking the blemishes, you loved me anyway.

Every kissed hurt,
Every hug you gave,
Every smile you shared with me,
Polished me

Slowly I changed from the little girl you once knew,
The Diamond in the Rough
To an awkward teenager,

A teen who enjoyed your watchful eye,
But also wanted to be like my peers.

You helped me grow and become who I am today,
A diamond, so beautifully polished.
Thank You, Mom you are the best.
