A whole lot of yearning
i wished i’d looked into your eyes
so i could construct the face that rested next to mine
on my pillow case

what’s left is the shape
the curves and the sharp parts,
the round of your cheeks,
the heart of your forehead,
the ridge of your chin,

your smile, of course, i remember you said

grey eyes, though you told me
blue ran in the family

falling in love through glass
sun reflected, glowing,
waiting for my fear to pass us
and look directly in your eyes
