my opinion on the advice people give sometimes
Useless Advice

'Just be yourself '
but who is that in contrast to everyone else?
a bold statement used to put you at ease

But who am I really? it changes so often
I often cant keep up with myself
so which one do I choose when told by someone else
'just be yourself'.

me with you is me it's true
but me with her
her laugh which blasts out and pushes you back like a red velvet rope
only enter if you can cope
with the fast witty banter
often flies straight past my head.

often too happy to sit and watch instead
often too happy to give what others want
a punchbag
a wingman
a mute
I communicate like clay
putty in your hands
often too glad to hand you my ground
hate just standing around
so give me a job
a role I must play.

too often too happy to just stay away
and be myself when no-one is watching

being yourself is a ridiculous thing.
