A poem told in letter format
When I think about your childhood,
Tears spring to my eyes
You were battered from an early age
A child of fear, a victim of rage
With no one there to hear your cries

When I think about the man you are,
I feel my heart begin to sing
I have such strong feelings for you
Deeper than you’ll ever know
Our friendship was the dawn of spring

But it all changed and so did you,
The day she came and stole your heart
And at first I didn’t see it
But now I’m starting to believe it
She was poison from the very start

I hope you will return to me
I hope that you will find your way
Until then I will say goodbye
I love you and I cannot lie
It’s too painful for me to stay
