in response to the Pirate Poem by Morgan Talon
As Isabelle walked amongst the cliffs, she peered out towards the cold, grey ocean.
It's seething waves of menace drew concern.
"Lords of the deep" she pled, "Bring my Beloved back to me."

She pulled her tartan wrap close around her shoulders as the wind bit at her face and hands.
Reluctantly, she turned away from the sea and walked carefully through the paths back to the cottage.
They were lined with thorny-crowned thistle sentries standing alongside to prevent one from straying very far from the beaten road.

Finally clearing the fields, the cottage was a welcoming site.
She sat down by the fire and warmed her hands.
When the cold had been chased away, she pulled out from her apron pocket a tattered letter.
She read, softly weeping:

"I sit alone in the darkness, so very far away
Warmed only by your heart
And the precious words of love you say
This journey keeps us too long apart

I hunger for your welcome embrace
The deep, heated kiss
The glow in your eyes that light your face
All the treasures that I miss

Pearls and gold are not worth the wait
Time to turn the wheel and head for home
Naught for pieces of eight
The seas to nev’r more roam" ( c. Morgan Talon 2017)

"Oh my heart!" she cried and clutched the letter to her breast.
She arose and went to find a quill so that she might return the love letter he sent to her.

"I await patiently for your return, my love
with silent prayers to the heavens above.
Although autumn air it chills my bones
You're warm in my heart, you're never alone.

So raise the sails and tie the gybe
take care my heart, come make me your bride.
Riches deplete, love is abound
I'll rest not 'til you're back aground

So, quickly love, please make haste
a moment is more than I care to waste
for a life with you is better than gold
until you're here, my heart is on hold

On my heart is etched your name
it can't be lost, it's yours, so claim.
My love is yours, near and afar
Please come to me, my love, my Dar!"
