Short story about a game.

Peanut

“Veronica, you there?”

“Yes, Chris, but I don't know where... and I feel very strange. Like I'm going nuts.”

“I know what you mean. It's totally dark and I can't move my legs or arms, if I have any.”

“I don't want to play this game anymore. Go back to sleep.”

“Relax, Veronica. No one has ever died.”

“Chris, why do we keep playing this stupid game?”

“Because it's so fun when we win. We will win if we can put each piece of information together. What's that smell? Peanuts?”

“I can't breathe very well.”

“Veronica, breathe deeply. But try not to move too much, It feels like we would be easy to knock over. What do you smell?”

“Oh, yes, peanuts. Are you right next to me? I can't feel you.”

“Sounds like you're close, but I can't reach out to touch you. It's so cramped here.”

“Do you think we're golf balls again? Or maybe an avocado? You never know what Jerry and Sheila will think of when we lose.”

“Honey, we tel-ported them into someones earwax once. What could be worse?”
“Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrummmphh!”

“What the hell was that? Veronica, can you hear me?”

“Yes, but my ears are ringing. That sounded like an elephant.”
