Tale of a boy that meets a wise old man
Old man of the river

I recall as a boy,
my Mom would call.
I ran to her with joy,
leaving behind my ball.

She took my hand,
and off we went.
Life seemed a fairyland,
my minds dream to invent.

Next day I rode my bike,
a friend I made at the park.
From there we took a hike,
made sure to leave a pathmark.

Arrived home late for dinner,
Mom asked where I had gone.
A friend and I went to the river,
a old man we came upon.

He said God brought him there,
to tell us our flesh is a gift.
And always remain aware,
your soul eternally will persist.

Moms eyes open wide,
eat your food and then to bed.
That night thoughts occupied,
I felt a presence in my head.

Soon I took the car,
Thanks mom be home soon.
I felt like a superstar,
She still held my spoon.

Soonafter an oath I pledged,
my wife and I under God.
Our children came and aged,
my flesh was soon retired.

My mind full of things remembered,
my heart had not changed.
Mom’s gone, her call still treasured,
the old man, I now comprehend.
