Ghosts can only haunt the ones that believe in them
Haunted

The ghosts that haunt our attics
With elephants in rooms
Phantoms burnt on eyelids
Ghost images consume
Burning for so long now
Taking nights and days
Embers for the long run
The memory betrays
Reminiscing what we have seen
Forecasting what might be
Dwelling on what could've been
If we had the eyes to see
If we had a heart to beat as proud
If we had a soul to guide
If we had a mind less disavowed
Some spirit on our side
Wraiths bereft, with substance sought
No heartbeats in the rooms
Pendulums swing back and forth
'Tick Tocking' in the gloom
As time's march halts for no man
No phantom, ghost or wraith
A presence, half cooked, half formed
where heart and soul are safe
Safe in darkness, static
No elephants in sight
With noises in the attic,
... my eyelids burn tonight
