Poem for Pond Poetry contest
Pinocchio Flowers

Here we sit
Cute you say
You don’t know
How hard we pray

To be those flowers
That we see
Through the window
With the trees

We’d soak up sun
And grow and sway
With fragrance sweet
We’d greet each day

Yes flowers real
With leafs and stems
No paint and glue
Just nature’s gems

Life could be good
We could go far
If we could wish
Upon a star

What could go wrong
To sour the deal
If we could change
To flowers real

What’s that I see
Through window pane
Lightning, thunder
Hail and rain

But wait that thing
That mows the lawn
If that comes near
We might be gone

If someone wants us
In a vase
It would be
Our end of days

Perhaps it’s best
To let it go
And not be like
Pinocchio
