In darkness we find ourselves.
Darkness, my old friend;
Take control.
Seep into my pores,
Flow through my veins.
Seek out the light-
Pop all which remains of the happiness,
Which once was mine.

Now an empty vessel;
I am a puppet to your strings.
It surrounds me;
Whispered words,
Images of oneself flash-
Show the imperfections;
The hatred within thickens.
Like a snake it coils,
Silencing the screams.

Pain is my friend;
Happiness my enemy.
Downturned faces, tears flowing;
Masked behind-
Smiling faces, laughter lines.
No one knows-
No longing to feel joy.
Darkness; my essence.
