Political poem.
Another bomb drops
And us Americans watch in awe
We #PRAY for a couple weeks
Then try to withdraw.
We aren’t choking on chemicals
So it’s no big deal to us.

What happened to humanity?
To compassion?
Has it become so scarce, we have to ration?
Do they get less for wearing a hijab
And growing a beard?
Is that the reason they are constantly feared?

Tell me, where does our God fit in all this?
Because I had faith before
But it is starting to fade.
All I see on the news are more bombs being dropped
And all the leftover gore.
Actually, we get more coverage on bashing Kim Kardashian for being a whore.

Kids are dying in large portions,
But God forbid you get an abortion.
When will our views change?
We all try to be daughters and sons of God,
But see people used in a shooting range.

Facebook videos are uploaded of people gasping for air,
With faces full of despair.
We say, “Don’t worry, we’ll help.”
“Let me press the like button and share.”

We aren’t choking on chemicals
And looking up for miracles
So it’s no big deal to us
Until it happens to us,
We won’t make a big fuzz.
For we are, “one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
