If tears weren't salty,
we'd probably be dead.

Salt helps regulate
our bodily functions.
When we sweat and cry,
we release water- and salt-
from our bodies.

At any given time, we have
about one cup of salt in our body.
It can help prevent heat fatigue
and the sodium in salt helps our nerves
send signals to each other,
while the chloride in salt helps us
remain at a neutral pH.

Salt- it's a helpful compound!
