Nostalgia is forged in many colours
Golden

Sometimes when I ease back
I'm taken to a place
An echo where the rain bows
… colours sepia, they race
Where memories are golden
Yet tarnished by the time
Elapsed from then to here
Protected by the grime
Like a time washed pearl drop
Murky to the touch
Yet beneath the dull veneer
A diamond in the rough
Swung and sliced off centre
To a place I used to go
If someone ever found it
They wouldn't even know
But for me, it shall stay golden
Hoarded with the rest
Collected under stains of time
The dull matt sheen belies the tests
The trials placed upon it
Forged and rendered bold
Perhaps someday I'll show you
… and its story may be told
