For the mother of my child.
To the world our time's been brief,
But that's not how it seems to me
Like a flash, you came to me so suddenly

And though it's just been a year or two
God knows all the hell that we've been through
I still get to crawl into bed beside you

Lookin' back we've had our share of fights
So many hellish days and restless nights
But every time, we always made things right

No, I'll never know how you do it
How you always find a way to forgive
My sorry ass when I know I've done you wrong

But I hope you know how grateful I am
When I leave to do work for Uncle Sam
You'll be there to welcome me home again

There's nothing I wouldn't give for you
And not a damn thing I wouldn't do
Not a single aspect that I would change
Cause in the end I'd still feel the same
Lookin' back.
