Poem based on the prompt: "Believe nothing you hear, and only one half that you see."
Believe nothing you hear,
and only one half that you see

Although I’ve heard it many times,
I find it isn’t me.

Mr. Poe is famous for
Many things that he wrote
But this time I struggle with
The one you had to quote

I understand his point of view
With nothing that you hear
It rings of gossip, hurt and hate
And other things I fear

But it can also be the things you hear
From the one that holds your heart
You need those words from your love
To help you never part

Communication is the key
To relationships that last
You can’t believe a word he says?
You’ll put him in your past

And if he shows his love
As he’s supposed to do
With kindness and tenderness
To help to see you through

Mr. Poe now tells you to believe
Only half of what you see?

And that, my friends, is exactly why
I find it isn’t me
