Prompt from Dark Dreamscapes Dark Poetry Contest
I lay in the dark, all alone.
Cannot see, or hear, and feel only cold.
Hoping for hope, hoping for death;
Fear gripped my heart;
Cold claws digging in.
Hopelessness and darkness
Making homes within.

My heart is hallow,
It's no longer there.
Can no longer feel emotions;
Life no longer has meaning;
No purpose to suffice.
Wearing my façade,
I get through the days;
Nightmares fill my dreams.

Here under this tree,
I sit with my heart out bear.
Can anyone come,
And save me from my despair?
My familiar, the crow,
The messenger of the dead.
Has he come with a message,
From the beyond?

My dead lover buried here under this tree,
My Love, my life.
What shall I do,
Now that you've moved on?
I miss you, I'm here alone

As the skies darken,
Bringing in a storm.
The cold of the Winter wind,
Bringing a message of it's own.
Frost is coming, the world will sleep.
As I sit here under this tree,
With my familiar and lover.
