He was trapped. Trapped in his own head. (Winner, Cramp.)

The sound of silence deafened him
It pressed on his eardrums, ominous.
"Escape," he thought, frantically.
"Leave the cage now."

The very air around choked him
A singer, denied his voice.
:"Breathe", he told himself, desperately
"Breathe in, breathe out."

He was trapped
Trapped in his own head
Hearing voices
That said nothing to him
But said it loudly, persistently.

"Turn the radio off," he pleaded
to no one in particular.
There was no radio
The harsh, discordant static
Was the electricity within
And the rock and roll band
that hammered out
half-remembered tunes
had taken its last bow
years ago.

Escape. Breathe.
Leave the cage now.
Escape. Breathe.
Turn the radio off.
Escape.
Escape the old songs.
Escape the old songs.
Escape the silence.
Breathe.
Leave
the
cage
now.
