A Blitz poem about the dark side of social media.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: A Blitz poem is intended to be read as quickly as possible, pausing only to breathe.

Sometimes they “like” you
Sometimes they don’t
Don’t miss an update
Don’t hold back anything
Anything goes
Anything’s fair
Fair to criticize
Fair to exploit
Exploit the diversity
Exploit the insecurity
Insecurity of body
Insecurity of mind
Mind that’s fragile
Mind that’s been poisoned
Poisoned with lies
Poisoned with envy
Envy of others
Envy of covetous intent
Intent to harm
Intent to hurt
Hurt with shame
Hurt with hate
Hate yourself
Hate others
Others who are different
Others who can’t fight back
Back against unfair accusations
Back against anonymous trolls
Trolls who sow chaos
Trolls who inflict pain
Pain that causes isolation
Pain that takes lives
Lives of your own
Lives that are not
Not going to be okay
Not yours to ruin
Ruin with rage
Ruin with isolation
Isolation from conscience
Isolation from consequence
Consequence for your actions
Consequence for your words
Words that crave attention
Words that keep others away
Away from a connection
Away from me
Me and I
Me and myself
Myself...
I...
