A native american poem
I came from the shadows
Of a forgotten Race
We've been here from the start
Proud and Strong we roamed
The land of our Ancestors
We lived in peace

Now we are only a few
Instead of the plenty
Many of our family are gone now
Sitting up here in our huddled few
We still have gatherings and ceremonies
But it's not what it used to be

Columbus "Discovered" America
Just look at the definition:
Find out what one didn't previously know
Obtain sight/knowledge for the first time
I am still in a stupor

Discovering land that's inhabited
Maybe I could go over to China or France
I could "discover" that land and take it over
Put everyone there on a "Reservation"
Hoping they would die off and not be heard again

They came by the boat loads and took advantage
Massacring my people by the hundreds of thousands
Those that still stood were stuck away
Where they hoped time would forget
To silence the few that remained

I am PROUD I am STRONG
I am one of the Remaining Few
I stand TALL for my people and ancestors
For those that paid the ultimate sacrifice
For a way of life not understood and greed of land
I AM A NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN!!!
