A plea for a wayward child to return home
From Hell to Maternity

Your mother sheds a tear at things you've done.
Your brother wonders if it might be fun.
Your sister swears she cannot stand your face,
yet plans to steal your life and your disgrace.

You ran away to seek adventure's thrill.
You're on the street, but we all feel the chill.
We do not grasp the reasons why you ran,
slept in a car, ate from a garbage can.

The babies came, first one, then two, now three.
To keep this up, makes little sense to me.
We'll find a path to soothe the way you felt,
and make a better life than fate has dealt.

There is a place where all of you can thrive.
Come home lost girl, while you are still alive.
