Writing exercise
“If you would just try a little harder, you would find that the enemy is actually close enough for you to touch,” and just then, the tip of her blade pierced my flesh, ever so tenderly, before withdrawing. “If you can get that close, Anna, you can vanquish your enemy.”

Easier said than done. She was a master at what she did, which was being an assassin for hire. I was only stepping into this world, only now learning what was and was not safe, what was and was not fair. As an assassin, nothing was fair and all was out for grabs. The blood slipping down my forearm to my wrist showed me this.

“Who is my enemy?” I asked softly as she looked at me with fire in her green eyes.

“Ah, Anna, the true question is, who isn’t?”
